GASTROBAR THE CARPET. Creating graphic experience for this new gastro experience.
La Tapeoteca offers classic tapas with avant-garde techniques in the center of Murcia, in a fresh and casual atmosphere. La Tapeoteca is a gastrobar where you can enjoy avant-garde cuisine with the Mediterranean as tapas. At the head of the restaurant is chef Manuel Alvarez -a young chef who is passionate about gastromony. His training has gone through the Michelin Star chefs like Romail Fornell, and also at top restaurants and next to chefs like Pablo Martinez de Eszencia Restaurant, Miguel Hernández of Casa Beltrí or the chef Jose Manuel Miguel.
For all this it was necessary to create an image that combines the concepts of gastronomic tradition and vanguard techniques. As much to apply it in the decoration as in the graphic pieces of the space.
A large blackboard wall serves as a canvas to show diners the house specialties and the relaxed spirit of La Tapeoteca. For this, manual typographies and illustrations of old kitchen utensils have been used, impressing a very welcoming and modern atmosphere. Wood is the other main material in the decoration, continuing the concept of using natural materials.
Paparajote developed graphic pieces such as stationery, banners, letter, wardrobe … supporting and enhancing this image by using more natural materials such as craft paper and cotton t-shirts in uniforms. The illustrations that flood the wall are glued on the salvamenteles and t-shirts worn by the heads of the room, breathing a global brand image. There was a clear need, the menu is constantly being renovated by creating new dishes. It was necessary to create a very original support that offered the possibility of easily changing the menu of La Tapeoteca. In this way, a piece of wood was created in the form of a cutting board, such as those used in the kitchen, which, through holes, makes the renovation very simple and brings an element that connects the diner with the interior of the kitchen.
The web project of La Tapeoteca was realized in collaboration between TicTag Studio, in charge of the part of art direction, programming and web development; Ferao & Méndez for photography and Paparajote Creative Studio in front of the graphic design work.
